RPS Four-Market Data Coverage Archive
This page publicly discloses the number of valid securities that can be computed for RPS50, the number of industry classifications, and the latest completion update times for each market. Here, the “valid samples” refers to the calculation scope, not equivalent to the total number of securities listed on the exchange.

Valid samples are not the total listed securities
To enter a specific RPS window, a security must have sufficient historical trading day data and valid positive closing prices at the start and end of the window. New listings may first enter RPS20 and then gradually enter RPS50, RPS90, RPS120, and RPS250. Delistings, suspensions, code changes, or missing prices may temporarily exit the window.
Therefore, the quantities on this page explain the denominator for the current ranking, not the total number of listed securities on the exchange. When researchers cite RPS percentiles, they should retain the market, window, snapshot date, and number of valid samples simultaneously.
Why are the four markets ranked independently
China A-shares
Using the Shanghai and Shenzhen securities that meet the historical length and price quality requirements for the corresponding window as the comparison set. Price limit systems, trading halts, and industry classifications all have local characteristics.
US stocks
Larger number of securities, more frequent changes in listings and delistings. Short windows usually cover more new securities with shorter history, so the number of samples in different RPS windows may differ significantly.
Hong Kong stocks
Larger liquidity differentiation, ranking itself does not represent tradability. When viewing high RPS targets, additional verification of trading volume, bid-ask spreads, and company public information should be conducted.
Japanese stocks
Uses independent trading calendars and industry labels. Japanese stock RPS only reflects its relative position within the Japanese stock valid samples and cannot be directly converted to other currency markets.
How to use industry classifications
Industry labels are used to observe whether strong samples are concentrated in a few themes and whether the same direction repeats across periods. The number of industry labels changes due to label cleaning and completion of security classifications; labels are not ratings and do not mean that all securities within an industry have the same risk or return characteristics.
Data update times and revisions
Data for the four markets is completed by separate daily update processes, so completion times within the same day may differ. Public aggregated snapshots are generated after updates and distributed via JSON distribution addresspublication. If historical prices or classifications are revised, subsequent recalculations may change the valid samples and historical percentiles.
