What is US stock RPS ranking?

RPS (Relative Price Strength, relative price strength)It is the core indicator of CANSLIM stock selection method proposed by William O'Neil in 'How to Make Money in Stocks', also the core scoring system of Investor’s Business Daily (IBD). US stock RPS ranking measures the percentile of price gains of each NYSE/NASDAQ stock relative to all US stocks over a specific time period.

O'Neil studied all major bull stocks in the US stock market since 1880, and found that their average RPS value before significant stock price surge reached 87. Major bull stocks like NVDA (Nvidia), AVGO (Broadcom), AMD, etc. in recent years all met the condition RPS120 ≥ 80 before launch.

What stocks does the US stock RPS ranking cover?

US stock RPS covers the NYSE, NASDAQ, and AMEX, totaling 9,127 securities, the largest sample size among the four markets on this site. The calculation method is consistent with A-shares: taking the interval gains of 50, 120, 250 trading days, sorting and converting to percentiles within the entire market. Due to US stocks including a large number of ETFs and low-liquidity securities, the actual effective sample is approximately 7,648 securities. William O'Neil's CANSLIM system is precisely based on the US stock market, and it is recommended to focus on targets above RPS 80.
